Lake Waikareiti Located in Te Urewera National Park near Wairoa, this pretty lake is the smaller of the two found in the park. Situated at a higher altitude than the larger Lake Waikaremoana, it drains into the latter via the Aniwaniwa Stream. Hiking trails within the park lead to and around the lake. Lake Waikaremoana Located in the breathtaking Te Urewera National Park in the North Island's East Coast region, Lake Waikaremoana is the deepest lake in the North Island at 256 m (840 ft) deep.
